Higher education students can carry out their projects at the Aquaculture Directorate Research Centre and gain valuable experience in fish husbandry or related subjects. Students from the University of Malta and MCAST, as well as foreign universities and institutes carry out their research periods or thesis experiments at the Centre. For further information contact 

Moreover, individual students (and their guardians) carrying out school projects are able to visit the Centre on Saturday mornings by appointment and School classes can visit on specified weekdays following a booking confirmation.

The periods allocated for School/Group Visits are:

  • Only Primary Year 5 pupils and up are accepted.
  • Maximum number of pupils/students per group per day must not exceed 30.
  • Students to be kept under educators’ supervision at all times.
  • Visits may be cancelled at short notice due to unforeseen circumstance or bad weather.
  • Due to the nature of the premises and facilities at fort San Lucjan, we regret to inform that there is limited access to wheelchair bound and restricted mobility persons.
  • No consumption of food or feeding of the animals on the premises.
  • Suitable footwear has to be worn at all times on the premises. Flip-flops, sandals and other open footwear are not accepted.
  • Photography is permitted only in designated areas.
  • Please respect the welfare of the animals at all times.
